The Tree of Life

Bears fruit enough for survival
one month at a time, like manna
from heaven in the desert day by day.
On the seventh day, it provides a place for shady rest,
for we do not yet toil and not grow weary.
We are still bound by the guard at the east of Eden
and must dwell beneath the branches and fight to win souls
as ours is a hope plentiful, but deferred in this life
to be overcome in the midst of paradise.
