Well Built

Step out beyond your comfort,
The time has come to fly
The ground beneath you has been well built.

Survivors in this world stay alert,
and you are too young to die
Step out beyond your comfort.

I see you struggle and watch you fall,
Push aside your guilt and succeed without a sigh
The ground beneath you has been well built.

Walk beside Him - your strength and refuge,
You'll need no excuse to avoid endeavors
Step out beyond your comfort.

Though the river of life carries much silt,
Wade in and stand strong in defiance
The ground beneath you has been well built.

Take your potential to the hilt,
Deny those who wish your dreams to die
Step out beyond your comfort
The ground beneath you has been well built.

This poem is a written after reading Dylan Thomas' poem "Do not go gentle into that good night". Thomas' poem is one of the more intimidating poems to mimic not only because of the format of the villanelle, but also because his poem is one of the most oft quoted in all of literature.
