The Force that Runs Through Me

The Force that runs through me
drives my red blood to feel
in ways I did not know my
heart and nerves could fire.

The force that drives me
to succeed and sustain -
Both at work and at home
Holds me tight at night.

The force that runs through me
She is crowned in tresses of red and
Queen of so much more than our marriage bed.

She makes bold my convictions,
joy out of sorrow,
She - makes love abide.

This poem was written after reading "The Force that Through" by Dylan Thomas. Thomas's poem uses the forces of nature as a point of comparison, and often minimizes the importance of one's self when viewed through the lens of time and nature. I chose instead to focus on the power of relationships to strengthen the mind, body, and soul.
